Fairy-Tale Spa

by Becca Hensley

People don’t generally visit the enchanting Nimb to escape the hubbub. Instead, the effusively reimagined hotel reigns as a favorite portal to Copenhagen’s lively Tivoli Gardens, the world’s second oldest amusement park and by far the most nostalgic and timeless sanctum of fun on earth. Guests and other revelers pass through Nimb’s storied facade (an eye-popping blend of Moorish and Venetian-intoned architecture) into the alfresco park to play games of chance, ride roller coasters and eat at gastronomic restaurants. It’s been that way for more than a century.

Nevertheless, recent renovations to the luxurious boutique hotel took into account that some guests prefer to linger within Nimb to enjoy the hotel’s fine restaurants, refined bars and stunning, art-filled suites and common rooms. New guest rooms offer expansive terraces, poised above the park’s din. A new restorative spa—Nimb Wellness— is a bedazzling chamber of salutary pursuits. The sanctuary transports wellness seekers to another dimension via a warren of chambers that include treatment rooms, state-of-the-art gym, Crossfit room, hammam and occasional windows that peek into Tivoli Gardens, a reminder of life’s extreme contrasts.

A rooftop swimming pool invites, set for countercurrent swim workouts upon demand. The elegantly curated spa menu offers massage techniques drawn from global traditions, from Balinese to Hawaiian and result-driven facials. At Nimb Wellness, Han Christian Andersen’s words ring true: “Life is a fairytale.”
