DIY Beauty Recipe from Actress and Beauty Expert Shiva Rose
I love this mask for how smooth and hydrated it leaves the skin. It gently exfoliates and replenishes with much-needed minerals. Plus, it is satisfying and fun to peel off!
Agar agar is said to have been discovered in Japan in the 1600s. It’s a beautiful binding ingredient that is derived from seaweed and is full of iron, magnesium, copper, and calcium, all of which make it anti-inflammatory. The honey has the added benefit of being antibacterial.
For oily skin
Use once or twice a month, or as needed to calm breakouts
1 cup boiled green tea (use 2 tea bags)
1 tablespoon raw honey
1 tablespoon lemon juice
2 tablespoons agar agar
Mix together the green tea, honey, lemon juice, and agar agar in a saucepan and bring to a boil for 2 minutes. Remove from the heat and let sit until it forms a thick paste. Wash your face and pat it dry, then apply the paste and let it dry. When it has dried, it will have a rubbery texture and you can peel it right off. Use a washcloth and warm water to remove any mask left on your skin.
