Classic Take on Eco-Friendly Chair

eco-friendlyThe Barcelona chair by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe made its debut in 1929, and it remains a classic to this day. And while we don’t usually condone designs “inspired” by such classics, we found this particular eco-friendly version—the Butaca Vandagan X—worthy of note. The wooden base is made of Manchiche, a tropical hardwood from a certified managed forest in Guatemala, and cushions are upholstered in natural organic cotton or burlap. It will never compete with the real Barcelona chair, but in wood it’s an interpretation that’s pretty cool—but not cheap.
