Do Yoga in the Buff, on a Bluff?

by Nicole Dorsey Straff

At first I thought the spa invitation said “Do Yoga in the Buff,” and the last thing in the world I want to do is perform my favorite yoga postures totally on the nude to be able to see all my drops and drags and swoops. I think that naked yoga is just about the worst idea in the world.(Except if you are wrestling yoga-like with a lover or partner but that is totally off subject.

But the inviting spa invitation actually  said:

The Spa at Bacara debuts its “Buff on the Bluff” wellness class, beginning with  a guided walk through the resort’s 78-acres of flower-filled courtyards, native plants and preserves. At the top we will enjoy a 30-minute wellness session on “The Bluff,” a grassy lawn nestled at the highest point of the resort, overlooking views of the coast.

“At Bacara, we strive to offer truly exceptional moments that can only be found at our resort,” said Kathleen Cochran, general manager of Bacara. “This wellness class is a perfect reflection of that commitment.”

Buff on the Bluff is one of many fitness programs offered at The Spa. A 3,500-square-foot fitness facility is outfitted with state-of-the-art cardio and strength training equipment as well as a separate Pilates studio with six reformers. In addition, fitness lovers can enjoy beachside yoga, t’ai chi, aqua-aerobics, qi gong meditation and other group classes.

Follow it up with a round of golf or a fabulous spa treatment.
