A Healthy Halloween

Trick your taste buds with treats that won’t cause a sugar rush.

On Halloween, it’s easy to get caught up in trick-or-treating and give in to the temptation of your favorite candy bar, but you don’t need to jump on a sugar-filled roller coaster ride. Although a few pieces on Halloween night are probably well deserved, we’ve rounded up a few of our favorite recipes that are so good it’s scary.

Tangerine Pumpkins

These adorable tangerine pumpkins from Brendid.com are a simply way to celebrate the arrival of Halloween and fall. Made with peeled tangerines and celery stalks, treating yourself to this snack won’t make you feel guilty.

Three Ingredient ‘Bloody Cups’

Don’t let the name scare you off! These simple dessert cups from elephantasticvegan.com are vegan and gluten-free. Just use your favorite vegan chocolate, and layer in mashed raspberries with rice syrup for a tart and sweet treat.

Avocado Protein Bar

If you’re looking for a healthy plant-based protein bar, look no further! These protein bars from sweetashoney.co contain wholesome ingredients including, almond, avocado, coconut butter and banana into a deliciously sweet (and green) protein bar.

Candy Corn Fruit Cocktail

Replace traditional candy corn with something more nutritious, but just as tasty from familyfreshmeals.com! Satisfy your sweet tooth with pineapple, oranges and whipped cream, layered to mimic the classic treat. Serve these at your next Halloween party, or as a snack before trick-or-treating.

Spooky Guacamole

Give your guests something to gasp at during your next Halloween party with nobiggie.net "Holy Skull-y Guacamole." Don’t be daunted by creating a skull from an avocado, the recipe comes with step-by-step instructions and a video to walk you through.

Monster Mouths

You may recognize these from their popularity on Pinterest, but these Monster Mouths from texanerin.com have a healthy twist. Instead of using marshmallows as teeth, these peanut butter mouths used shaved almonds.

Witch’s Broom Stick

These Witches Broom Sticks from blommi.com will be a stand-out appetizer at your gathering! Using just pretzel sticks, cheese and chives, these snacks are simple to assemble, and will be just what you need next to the cauldron on your Halloween party buffet.
