A backpack made of recycled water bottles, an all-natural tanner, and on-the-go energy bars make up our sustainable favorites for August.
Re-Kånken Backpacks
Consider the Re-Kånken the eco-conscious brother of Fjällräven's Kånken line of backpacks. They are made from recycled polyester that is sourced from used PET bottles. The coloring process, called SpinDye, reduces the amount of water used. Available in 16- and seven-liter sizes.

LifeWater's "The Brazil Project"
One very pressing issue that received attention during the Rio Olympics was the state of the country's waters. For the participating athletes, pools that turn a sickly shade of green is a temporary nuisance. For the roughly 34 million Brazilians who do not have access to potable water, this is reality. In September, implementers from the LifeWater Safe Water Fund, will visit schools throughout rural Brazil for its "The Brazil Project." The goal is to educate the people about safe water and hygiene, and - more importantly - install purifiers.

Pique Teas
One of the more difficult things about teas, delicious as they are, is remembering when to fish the bag out of your cup. Some variants, like green tea, become very bitter if left for even a few seconds over the recommended steeping time. Pique teas solve this problem by slow-brewing whole leaves and crystallizing them once done. These 100 percent certified organic teas are ready to drink once dissolved in hot water - no waiting necessary.
