This tropical cocktail is a far cry from the paper umbrella drinks we are so used to. We asked mixologist Christian Bolaños from the Andaz Peninsula Papagayo Resort in Costa Rica to share one of their locally inspired cocktails.
“Costa Rica's local cocktail , called “Guaro Cacique,” is made with organic sugar cane, organic soursop, organic carrots and beets.”

Ingredients
- 1 ½ oz. organic sugar cane
- 1 oz. beet juice sweetened with stevia leaf
- ¾ oz. mandarine lime juice
- 2 oz. soursop shrub
- splash of ginger beer
- fresh-cut carrot
Preparation
Put Guaro Spirit into a shaker and mix with mandarine & beet juice, and then serve in a tall glass full of ice. Add soursop shrub and fill up with ginger beer.
