Green Spa Network Goes Global

The Green Spa Network (GSN), a nonprofit dedicated to helping spas and personal-care brands become greener and more sustainable, has just expanded internationally, with the formation of Green Spa Network Mexico, its first chapter outside the U.S. Organic Spa Magazine is the official media sponsor for the new Green Spa Network Mexico.

I spoke with Paul Schmidt, executive director, GSN, who told me, “The Green Spa Network embodies a global vision and is gaining support in many corners of the world. We’re expanding with our first chapter in Mexico because of our existing strength there, and also because the Latin American spa community is hungry for support and is motivated to protect its native ecosystem as well as the social and cultural resources that make Mexico unique.”
As Mexico (and Latin America) continues to solidify its role as a global spa and wellness mecca, this affiliation will help promote a holistic and sustainable approach to the spa and wellness industries there. Green Spa Network Mexico will provide valuable resources and relationships for Mexican spa owners and directors, and offer tools to help support spas, spa-related businesses and wellness and healing centers built on aspects of sustainability that help to promote beauty and well-being.
Founding members include Bonnie Baker and Alondra Saldarriaga of Satteva Spa and Wellness Concepts, Sara Jones of Spa Professional Mexico, Sharon Sedgwick of Sedgwick Consulting, Leticia Calvo of Excellence Resorts and Viviana Quesada of Four Seasons Punta Mita, Emmanuel Arroyo of Rosewood Mayakoba. The launch party was held at the beautiful Rosewood Mayakoba this past weekend.

GSN is a not-for-profit trade association dedicated to promoting sustainability in and through the spa and wellness industry. Their mission is to promote the vital connections between personal well-being, economic sustainability and the health of our planet. Through networking, education, and best practices developed with its membership of the nation’s most innovative green spas, GSN is setting the standard for social and environmental sustainability in the industry.
