GOMASIO Recipe

A rich source of minerals and cholesterol-lowering phytosterols, these are three easy recipes, which add taste and healing power to your diet. Makes two tablespoons.

TOASTED NORI AND GARLIC

2 tablespoons unhulled sesame seeds
½ teaspoon sea salt
¼ teaspoon garlic powder
1 pinch of toasted nori flakes

CACAO CHILE

2 tablespoons unhulled sesame seeds
½ teaspoon sea salt
½ teaspoon raw cacao powder (or 1 teaspoon raw cacao nibs)
¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon ground chile powder

CUMIN GINGER

2 tablespoons unhulled sesame seeds
½ teaspoon sea salt
¼ teaspoon ground cumin
¼ teaspoon ground ginger
1/8 teaspoon paprika
In small skillet over medium heat, toast sesame seeds until fragrant and lightly browned. Remove from heat and transfer to mortar. Add sea salt and grind until seeds start to break apart. Add remaining spices and seasonings accordingly. Grind to incorporate until seeds are about half ground. Serve as condiment or store in airtight container.
