Family-friendly pursuits served up with a SoCal flavor

by Emily Barth Isler

The Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa is legendary in parent groups throughout Southern California, thanks to its signature Splashtopia 425-foot lazy river. Known for keeping kids (and their parents!) happy for hours at a time, the resort has recently leveled up and made itself even more family-friendly with the opening of its fourth on-property pool, adjoining poolside bar and grill and gaming cabana. The new pool, named the Conchilla Valley Pool, features views of the mountains, padded lounge chairs, shaded splash pad and eight VIP cabanas. During the day, guests can order by the pool for standard fare, and at night, the menu gets more refined and adult-focused, with California-coastal cuisine.

Between the lazy river, the new Conchilla Valley Pool, and the property’s stunning golf course and spa, Rancho Las Palmas makes for the perfect family getaway. Only eleven miles from downtown Palm Springs, the resort can feel like a distant oasis or a launching pad for local adventure, depending on what guests wish to do with their time.

Nearby attractions include the Living Desert Zoo and Gardens and the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway, but we found ourselves not wanting to leave the Rancho Las Palmas Resort. The spa features bespoke and custom desert-inspired treatments, like the Intuitive Massage, which is an all-inclusive combination of techniques (Swedish to Deep Tissue Therapy), along with the utilization of hot stones, CBD oils and balms. The Life Force Chi Massage uses Infused Aromatherapy Massage Formulations that align with acupuncture meridians. Body wraps, such as the Desert Cactus Wrap and the Detoxifying Desert Mud Wrap, utilize the uniqueness of the desert to make the spa experience as relevant as it is relaxing.

Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa’s 240-acre property has long been known as a luxe weekend escape for Hollywood-types and Los Angeles residents looking for a change of pace, but it is more than worthy of a plane ride for those who want to come from away and experience the Coachella Valley and SoCal at its best. It offers 444 guest rooms, including 22 luxury suites, and 37,000 square feet of meeting and event space, including a range of beautiful outdoor venues, allowing the resort to truly offer something for everyone. omnihotels.com
