Celebrate Easter With Handmade Beeswax Candles

by Elke Erschfeld

This year I’m especially excited about upcoming Easter since it signals the beginning of spring. Certainly something I desperately need after a tough winter in the Northeast with several snowstorms.

Many Easter traditions include egg and bunny decorations that make homes a bit more festive. Just in time, GreenTree Home Candle introduces a new line of spring-themed beeswax candles. The charming beeswax designs double as sculptures that add warmth and personality to any environmentally conscious home. Part of the collection are vintage inspired Nested Hens in 12 lively colors and sets of eggs in muted tones of robin’s egg blue, celadon, buttery cream and caramel.

GreenTree Home Candle hand-pours and hand-finishes their 100% pure beeswax candles at their Central New York studio. All candles come packaged in a gift box made of recycled materials. A lot of the designs include colors and textures found in nature such as cones or twigs of the Woodland Series as well as spiritual inspired themes such as Buddha Heads of the Divinity Series. What all of them have in common is that they fill a home with a sweet, natural fragrance and are made of a renewable resource.

Beeswax candles are an eco-friendly and healthy alternative to conventional paraffin candles that are petroleum based. They are non-toxic, burn cleaner and last longer thanks to a higher melting point. When paraffin candles are burned, they create soot and chemical pollutants that are released into the air where they can irritate our respiratory system. In contrast, beeswax is simply made by industrious bees that transform nectar into honey and is collected by beekeepers from their hives.

Another benefit of beeswax candles are that they emit negative ions when burning, which helps to clean the air of dust, dirt and other pollutants. This makes them beneficial for people with allergies. According to WebMD, negative ions might even boost your energy and mood. Again, that’s something I can certainly need after a long and sluggish winter. I wish you a happy Easter!
