A New Ripple at the Lake

by Organic Spa Magazine

Anyone who has been to Mohonk Mountain House, a National Historic Landmark in New York’s Hudson Valley, has likely been there more than once. In fact, many guests have been returning since childhood, to breathe in the fresh mountain air, hike in the extraordinary natural surroundings, boat and swim in Lake Mohonk, and, more recently, relax in the award- winning spa.

Starting this month, guests can connect with nature in a new way at the Lakeview Summerhouse, the first outdoor spa treatment room, built on the cliffs overlooking the lake. The Lakeview Summerhouse will house yoga and meditation classes, private mindfulness sessions, sound bathing and, of course, a menu of spa treatments.

“Wellness has been a crucial aspect of the Mohonk Mountain House experience since its founding in 1869,” says Nina Smiley, director of mindfulness programming. “With the addition of the Lakeview Summerhouse and the new treatments and programs that come with it, guests will be given fresh opportunities to celebrate our natural environment and create mindful moments, just as our founders intended.”
