Ultimate Wellness

By Rona Berg / May 19, 2017

You’d think it would be enough: a top hacienda-style restaurant serving inventive coastal cuisine, an amazing bar with locally brewed craft beers and 100 varieties of tequila, a stunning range of oceanside golf courses, spacious villas with private Jacuzzis and fire pits, and a beautiful 1.5-acre indoor and outdoor Mediterranean-style spa.

But Rancho Valencia—the only Relais & Chateaux in Southern California—has just launched a customized, integrative wellness program called the Wellness Collective, with three-, five- and seven-day program options based on the newly minted science of epigenetics. Popularized by Pamela Peeke, MD, and Deepak Chopra, MD, epigenetics is based on the idea that DNA is not destiny. By learning how to truly change your food habits, manage your stress, exercise and adapt a healthier lifestyle, research has shown that you can change the way your genes talk to the rest of your body, in order to decrease potential for disease and disability.

The Wellness Collective, run in partnership with the Lifewellness Institute in nearby San Diego, divides the calendar year into six “chapters” at Rancho Valencia, with each focusing on epigenetics and an aspect of lifestyle, including Movement & Fitness, Attitude & Perspective, Nutrition & Toxicity, Sleep & Respite, Relationships & Connection, and Stress & Balance. Guests can sign up for whichever chapter they need.

With 45 gorgeous acres of lush gardens, olive groves, trail walks, a serene yoga pavilion and state-of-the-art fitness center and the Wellness Collective, Rancho Valencia is now not only a beautiful getaway, it’s a place to get some serious work done.
