There’s shimmering turquoise everywhere. The water is so clear, you can walk out into the Gulf for yards and still see straight through. Six Senses Samui, perched on the northern tip of Koh Samui, boasts panoramic views of the Gulf of Thailand.
Take a dip in the resort’s main infinity pool and notice as the water blends into the sea blends into the sky, or enjoy a more secluded swim in your own private villa pool. Visit the spa overlooking the beach, dig into fresh tropical fruit at the open-air breakfast buffet, or enjoy a multi-course dinner with organic produce from the resort garden as you watch the sunset at the signature Dining on the Rocks restaurant.
If you’re looking for an excursion outside the resort, arrange a full-day boat trip to islands of Koh Nang Yuan and Koh Tao. Jump off the boat and snorkel around the coral reef at Koh Nang Yuan, then continue to Koh Tao, where you’ll find white sand beaches and crystal-clear water that transforms from pale turquoise to sapphire. Bear the heat and take a hike up to the top for a view of the tree-covered island.
Back in town, break a sweat in a Muay Thai kickboxing class. A trainer at Superpro Samui will show you the moves, and you’ll be sparring in no time. Then reward yourself with a refreshing coconut water or ice cream from the market. Be sure to grab a bag of Kalamae—chewy, sweet, sticky rice and coconut candy — to take home. Koh Samui is about a 45-minute plane ride from Bangkok, but it feels like another planet.
