Global Spa Mecca

Seville Spa

The spa at Hotel Palacio de Villapanés is a melting pot—just like the town of Seville itself.

Romans and Moors, Christians and Muslims, have all left their mark on the Andalusian town of Seville, which, at one time, was one of the most vibrant and cosmopolitan port cities of the Spanish empire. You still see evidence of these varied influences in the city, in the colorful mosaic tile work that adorns the old town buildings, in the minarets-turned-bell towers, and in the soulful flamenco music that wafts down the streets. And you’ll also find that melting-pot history represented at the spa at Hotel Palacio de Villapanés, a mansion-turned-boutique hotel in the heart of the city center.

A member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, Palacio de Villapanés is one of the few hotels in town to boast a spa—in this case, a jewel-box sanctuary with a steam, sauna and experience shower set under a ceiling of twinkling lights. In the one treatment room, skilled therapists perform global techniques like lomi-lomi, Reiki and reflexology done with a kansa tool, as well as facials using organic products. A true standout, though, is the Kerala Ritual, a transportive 90 minutes that begins with a foot rub, moves on to a rhythmic full body massage, and then caps off with an Ayurvedic face and head massage that will have you floating. Enjoy a post-ritual organic tea in the spa—or take it up to the hotel’s rooftop lounge to soak up the 360-degree views.
