Rocky Mountain Spa Rebirth

Beyond the alpine timberline sits the newly refurbished Spa at The Broadmoor, a stately five-star resort and spa in Colorado Springs. “At 6200 feet, with arid mountain air, we found that exfoliation plus rehydration are the keys to skin recovery at altitude, and we’ve revamped our spa to support the needs of our guests,” says Cassie Hernandez, spa and fitness director at the 43,000 square foot, 32 treatment room spa. The newly launched spa menu includes oxygen facials and mountain bath soaks, with an updated fitness schedule (zumba anyone?) led by high-energy Hernandez and the staff, as they tackle dehydration dilemmas, including altitude sickness and jet lag. The renovated salon, brand-new pedicure stations, outdoor yoga sessions and updated alternative healing therapies–such as Balinese body-palming–round out the wellness experience. During spare moments at this pet-friendly resort, throw strikes at the six-lane bowling alley, go for a guided nature walk, paddle across the lake or golf the greens at one of three championship courses. “Then exfoliate, exfoliate, exfoliate,” says Hernandez.
