Slow meditation for easy relaxation
From the moment we wake up from a (hopefully!) restful sleep to the end of the day when we wind down, it seems that every minute passes more quickly than the last. We live in the age of progression, where food is served in less than 10 minutes and beauty is a quick fix, and sometimes miss the important moments because we are so easily distracted by the external factors around us.
We turned to Shel Pink, founder of SpaRitual and Slow Beauty pioneer, to provide us with a.m. and p.m. rituals, sure to help you reconnect with yourself.
1. Begin your day with an Ayurvedic-inspired Ahbyanga massage. Daily self-massage stimulates your lymph nodes, tones your muscles and leaves your skin moisturized and glowy.
2. Begin your day with the morning light. Step outside to let the natural light into your eyes. This jump-starts your internal clock and begins the production of melatonin to ensure a good night's sleep.
3. End your day with an aromatherapeutic foot soak, scrub and foot massage.
4. End your day with a simple breathing exercise to clear your mind and relax your body from the accumulated stresses of the day. Laying on your back, place one hand on your heart and one hand on your belly. Inhale deeply to the count of six and exhale to the count of 10. Repeat 10 times.
