Into the Woods

Into the Woods

Surrounded by a dense, old-growth forest that gives way to the Pacific Ocean, this Oregon Coast resort puts nature center stage in everything, from its décor and cuisine to its offered activities, which range from coastal walks and sunrise yoga to collage making with beach-found items and mindfulness sessions deep in the woods.

Nature plays a key role in the dedication to “wholeness” at Salishan—a concept that starts, of course, with wellness. At the light-filled, eight-room Spa, treatments like the Signature Sea Holistic ritual and Marine Detox Wrap reflect the nearby ocean with ingredients like marine mud, samphire and sea salt, while organic oil blends by local brand Mossy Creek Essentials feature scents like pine, cedarwood and clary sage to pay tribute to the forest. The Spa also programs a regular calendar of wellness talks and workshops; topics might include the history of posture, the nature of happiness and the therapeutic benefits of cannabis.

But to really work on your “wholeness,” nothing beats some time in the Spa’s glass-walled relaxation lounge, where the fireside loungers, outdoor terrace and infinity whirlpool all look out at the natural beauty of Siletz Bay.
