Mother/Daughter Dream Team

by Organic Spa Magazine

Cary & Meryl Gabeler Anjolie

Where/how are the products made?

They are handmade in India, with the exception of our new natural botanical perfumes made in the USA. The body oils, soaps and body butters are made in small batches under fair trade where we source our raw materials from local farmers, or in our garden at the foothills of the Himalayas.

What is the goal of the company?

Our mission has always been to create natural, healing, therapeutic products that not only do wonders for the mind, body and skin, but also create an aroma- therapy experience with pure essential oils that transport the senses. We are very dedicated to the social aspect of our business, which is paying for our work- ers’ children to go to school in India, as well as support women entrepreneurs through our “pay it forward” initiative.Anjolie Organic Spa Photo

What is it like to work together?

We work so closely together our chairs usually bump into each other! We’ve since realized we need to give each other our own space (literally)! We’ve always had a close relationship, which makes it that much easier for us to communicate effectively. We are very honest and open which makes our decision making faster and smoother. We also knew early on that our business relationship would be dif- ferent than our mother-daughter roles, and we were able to both act professionally and not fall into our familial roles.

What have you learned by working together?

We’ve now realized how synergistic our relationship is, which has enabled us to bring our business to another level. We are often reminding ourselves to think bigger! We also think the key lesson we’ve taken away from Anjolie, is how im- portant it is to celebrate each achievement and success—it’s what keeps us going! anjolienyc.com
