Apple Cider Vinegar: What’s Cooking?

by Organic Spa Magazine

Apple cider vinegar is having a moment—as it always has. Long a staple of folk cures, apple cider vinegar is showing up in tonics, elixirs, teas, shots and more, for its endlessly beneficial properties. These beverages are often mixed with honey to make them easier to go down. Of course, if you are very brave, you can drink it straight.

“Apple cider vinegar, which is made from fermented apple cider, is a probiotic-rich tonic with far-reaching benefits,” says Lauren Haynes, master herbalist and founder of Wooden Spoon Herbs. “I like to drink mine first thing in the morning, diluted in a little water, to activate my digestion and wake my whole body up. It mineralizes, alkalizes and stabilizes my blood sugar so I can wait to eat breakfast until I’m hungry. It’s great between or before meals, or after as a digestif.”
