To say The Homestead Resort is steeped in history would be an understatement. The sprawling 2,000-acre estate was founded in 1766, on land granted by George Washington, making it older than America herself. It is fitting that The Homestead, acquired by Omni Hotels & Resorts in 2013, is located in a town called Hot Springs, VA—the legendary healing powers of the region’s mineral hot springs have lured countless visitors over the centuries, including another president, Thomas Jefferson, who spent three weeks soaking in them in 1818.

Today, those same hot springs remain a central attraction of The Homestead, which is coming off a two-year, $25 million renovation. The revamped space features outdoor co-ed springs, a Finnish sauna, a new spa garden, a river reflexology walk, as well as a spring-fed pool and whirlpool. Inside the facilities, an aqua thermal suite features experiential showers (Arctic Mist, Atlantic Storm or Caribbean Storm), an aromatic steam room and an herbal cocoon, a heated space designed to provide guests a detox and purification experience, all set under a star-lit ceiling.

Together, these natural hot spots for relaxation and rejuvenation make it easy to understand why presidents and ordinary folks have turned to water as a healing tool throughout history, at The Homestead and beyond. thehomestead.com
