City of Wellness

by Organic Spa Magazine

The COMO Metropolitan London has all the trappings of an uber-chic boutique hotel: a sleek lobby and suites (designed by Linzi Coppick); two fantastic restaurants (including Nobu); a posh location in Mayfair; jaw-dropping views (of Hyde Park); and an impeccable standard of service.

Plus, Belgravia, Knightsbridge and Piccadilly are all well within walking distance.

But even though the Metropolitan is an urban hotel, it is still a part of the COMO Shambhala brand, which means that wellness is a high priority. COMO owner Christina Ong has created more than just a group of gorgeous hotels; she has raised the bar for holistic wellness, integrated seamlessly into the brand DNA. And, to keep it fresh, Ong draws from a stellar advisory board that includes yogi Rodney Yee, designer Donna Karan and Buddhist scholar Robert Thurman.

At the Metropolitan, a welcome amenity may include fresh-squeezed organic juices, fruit and yogurt or granola. Yoga classes, and mindful meditation, are small, to ensure that guests get personalized attention. The six-room spa--two rooms with private steam—provides a beautifully curated menu of Asian-inspired treatments, ranging from the signature rebalancing COMO Shambhala Massage to an Indian Head Massage with Marma Points.

The wellness team includes an osteopath, intuitive counselor and acupuncturist; there is a 24-hour gym with private trainers; and Corporate Wellbeing Programs are on offer.

After enjoying the latest exhibition at the Tate, shopping in Marylebone or browsing historic literary haunts like Daunt or Hatchards, it’s great to come back to such an elevated wellness experience.
