A Gourmet Getaway

As the daffodils and tulips bloom at Troutbeck, in New York’s Hudson Valley, outdoor activities–especially dining al fresco–are a huge draw. The picturesque 250-acre estate is a perfect weekend getaway, and has been attracting artists, thinkers and distinguished guests for centuries, including Ralph Waldo Emerson, Henry David Thoreau, Sinclair Lewis and Thurgood Marshall. Luxurious accommodations include a beautiful two-bedroom suite with a private living room or “sleeping porch.”

Being surrounded by beautiful organic farms, Chef Gabe McMackin, from New York City, celebrates the local bounty with a calendar of special seasonal culinary experiences—featuring local chefs, cookbook authors, and Manhattan transplants—that take place al fresco, at a long wooden table on a stunning stone patio.

This spring features a four-part Guest Beverage Residency with sommelier and wine educator, Lee Campbell, a fount of knowledge on sustainable vine-farming and traditional, low-intervention winemaking techniques. Troutbeck will also be featuring a Convivial Wine Dinner with Chef Gabe McMackin, to celebrate food and wine pairings, and introduce new pours to their cellar.

This, plus falconry, gardening and bulb planting workshops, and special outdoor meditation to celebrate the Spring Equinox at The Barns, a recent build on-property that hosts wellness offerings that include yoga, Pilates, mindfulness meditation, kinesoma, functional fitness classes and private sessions. The surrounding area is also well-suited to biking, hiking, skiing and exploring delightful nearby towns from Rhinebeck, New York to Great Barrington, Massachusetts.
