Patagonia’s New Recycled Shoes Sure Pretty-Up My Pups

by Nicole Dorsey Straff

Well, it’s finally too chilly out this week to sport my flip-flops for the rest of the season. Sure, I live in LA and live year–round in slip-ons and flip-flops. But: I am completely over the Uggs trend after yoga class, walking the beach with my dogs. My feet are officially freezing.

But oh, these new warm, ultralight EVERmore shoes from Patagonia have recycled microfiber uppers lined with fleece for cozy warmth. That makes the tortoises terribly happy, even in LA in winter. Rear pull loop provides easy on/off and clips to pack or harness. EVA anatomical footbed and insole add cushioning and support.

Details of my new favorite lounge shoes:
•    Durable, soft microfiber upper with 100% polyester plaid
•    Recycled rubber sole is durable and has good grip, traction and protection.
•    Rear pull-loop provides easy on/off; clips to pack and harness
•    20% EVA anatomical footbed provides cushioning, comfort and support
•    15% recycled insole provides extra cushioning; 3mm 20% recycled, durable rubber sole provides grip, traction and protection
•   Full toe box, medium arch/instep.

Consumers by this Patagonia shoe ($75) and $10 goes to environmental organizations in the retailer’s area.  These are the perfect weekend shoe.

But when it comes to a run-walk winter workout, a more-full-on sweat-fest, I totally turn to Patagonia’s new running shoes. Say, what?!

The EVERmore has a durable, breathable air mesh upper with protective overlays and drainage ports to dissipate water after stream crossings. The soft, counter-free heel, integrated footbed and flexible midsole and outsole allow the foot to naturally connect with the terrain with enough cushioning –10mm in the heel and 6mm in the forefoot – and a rock plate for ultra distance protection.

My foot was soaked jumping through puddles on an off-road run, but I wasn’t testing for waterproof capabilities. (And they are obviously not!)
