Dallas artist Laura Elia's artwork is gaining recognition and popularity.
The prestigious Craighead Green Gallery in Dallas selected five paintings from her "Awake" series for their upcoming New Texas Talent exhibition, which runs through August 30. Dallas yoga studio American Power Yoga also recently commissioned a series of eight paintings from Elia's newly introduced "Lotus" series to adorn their studio.
All of Elia's oil and acrylic paintings incorporate shapes, vivid colors, textures, and symbolism of Tibetan Buddhism. She donates 10% of proceeds from her paintings to the International Campaign for Tibet (www.savetibet.org).

If you're in the Dallas area this month, see Elia's art work by visiting the Craighead Green Gallery at 1011 Dragon Street in the Dallas Design District. The gallery represents fine contemporary art from nationally and internationally recognized artists. It's co-owned by Kenneth Craighead and Steve Green.
Elia says her Lotus Series for the American Power Yoga studio is based on a theme of transformation and is inspired by the lotus flower's pattern of growth.
“It is born from mud, rises through murky waters, and presents its pristine beauty in the clear light of day. Each of us inherently possesses the power to rise from our own self-created muck and bloom into radiant, enlightened beings," Elia explains. Like her "Awake" series, each painting in Elia's colorful Lotus Series has one or more Tibetan prayers embedded within.
