Kelly LeVeque’s Fab Four Smoothies

by Jennie Nunn

Kelly LeVeque prescribes meals using her “Fab Four” formula of 1) protein, 2) fiber, 3) fat and 4) greens to elongate the blood sugar curve and avoid the experience of an energy crash and cravings for carbs and sugar. Here are some favorite Fab Four recipes from her book, Body Love.

Fab Four Blueberry Muffin Smoothie

Skip that carb and sugar loaded muffin and instead try this sweet smoothie. The nut butter and blueberries in this smoothie pair nicely to recreate the comforting flavor of a blueberry muffin.

1 serving vanilla protein powder
2 tablespoons of any nut butter of choice
1 serving raw fiber powder or 2 Tablespoons chia
1/4 cup blueberries, frozen or fresh, plus more for garnish
2 to 3 cups unsweetened nut milk
Blueberries & hemp seeds, for garnish

Place all ingredients except the hemp seeds in a high-speed blender and blend to desired consistency. If you use fresh blueberries, add a few ice cubes before blending to cool. Garnish with hemp seeds and blueberries.

Fab Four Spa Day Smoothie

If you don’t have the time to go to the spa, this spa smoothie is a perfect way to start your day in a relaxing way.

1 serving vanilla protein powder
1/4 diced avocado
1-2 tablespoons chia seed
squeeze juice of 1/2 to 1 lemon

Handful spinach
1 small Persian cucumber
1/4 cup mint leaves
2 cups unsweetened nut milk

Place all ingredients in a high-speed blender and blend, adding water as needed to reach desired consistency.
