The message that resonates throughout this issue is the importance of finding a place where you can connect with a sense of something larger than yourself. When contributing editor Belinda Recio writes of an "intimate kind of sacred space, one that helps me center with my own journey," she is referring to a personal altar that helps her to connect with the deeper meaning of life. Journalist Evelyn Theiss, on the other hand, discovered a sacred space atop Meditation Mount, a blissful spot overlooking the Ojai Valley in California. "The hillside perspective inspires a turning inward toward the rhythm of your heart, and ultimately a connection with spirit," she writes in "A Place of Joy." Somewhere between the personal altar at home and the inspiring vista on top of a mountain, each of us has a space that "takes us there."
