David Bergman, Architect and EcoOptimist

David Bergman is an architect, author and professor. He is the founder of DavidBergmanEco, author of Sustainable Design: A Critical Guide and the blog EcoOptimism.com. Bergman is the Program Director for the New York School of Interior Design’s Master of Sustainable Interior Environments and also teaches at the Parsons School of Design. In addition to his architecture practice, from 1993 to 2010, his lighting company, Fire & Water, designed and produced energy-efficient and materials-conscious decorative lighting. Bergman is on the executive boards of the Designers Lighting Forum of New York (DLFNY) and NYC 2030 District, and is co-chair of YBG-NYC, an organization of Yale alumni involved in environmental fields. He is a LEED AP and Certified Passive House Designer, and holds a Master of Architecture from Princeton and a BA from Yale.
