Let’s Get Book Smart Accessories

These accessories will make your librarian jealous. Olympia Le-Tan handbags and clutches have become a fashion favorite starting with the fashion industry and almost immediately among celebrities. Looking smart and expressing your very own fondness for a book title is a bookish statement, even if it might be filled with your favorite lipstick color. Who wouldn’t love to own one of these?

If this is making you think of your very own DIY project you’re not alone. It would be a shameful crime to ruin any book worth saving however if you do happen to own an unreadable and worn out hard cover do as you please. I am thinking jewelry or ribbon box.

Made with embroidered canvas, brass structure and Liberty print lining.

Eco Friendly Gowns Take On The Red Carpet

If you watched the Oscars last night and enjoyed seeing the gorgeous gowns you would be surprised to find out that your favorite might have been an Eco-friendly option. The red carpet took on a green initiative last night with Liva Firth’s 2012 Green Carpet Challenge. The idea started in 2010 and it celebrates high end quality sustainable and Eco friendly creations with the help of red carpet events and celebrities. Part of the 2012 Green Carpet Challenge was Meryl Streep wearing a first ever custom-made Lanvin Eco gown. The gown was made from an Eco certified fabric sourced with help from the Green Carpet Challenge. Livia Firth was wearing an eye capturing red custom Valentino couture gown made from recycled plastic bottles (polyester).

Now that New York Fashion Week is over and we can resume back to our regular schedules the only way I can think of relaxing is with comfort and exercising. Allow your body to rest or get the good adrenaline going in these stylish picks from Adidas by Stella McCartney.

Best New Product Awards Presented for Ex·tracts at the New York International Gift Fair

Every year the New York International Gift Fair held at the Javits Center has the best of the best, especially when it comes to chic high quality design. This year it seems it has also become the mecca for more organic-natural beauty products, supporting everyone from small family owned businesses to larger well known corporations. I was happy to attend and grateful to see some new launches in person. Looking forward to next year.

The judging of the Ex-tracts show proved that environmentally conscious products win in all categories. Six companies were presented with EX-TRACTS Best New Product Awards.

Royal Apothic received “Best of Show” for their men’s Heroes & Aristocrats collection.

The Bath & Body category was won by J.R. Watkins Naturals for their all-natural Grapefruit Body Oil Mist.

The Beauty Accessory winner was OKA b. Footwear for their stylish and eco-friendly ballet flat.

The Cosmetic & Fragrance category was won by Simpatico for their Ambergris Solid Perfume, made of beeswax, jojoba oil, and vitamin E.

The Natural/Organic catagory winner was Marula – The Leakey Collection for their Marula Oil. A full-body healing and beauty oil made from hand-selected kernels of wild-harvested fruit of marula trees in Kenya.

Packaging Category was won by ECOYA for their Equality Candle. A 100% soy candle in ribbed, cobalt blue glass with packaging that resembles a history book, which pays homage to the historic efforts of current social campaigns for equal marriage rights in the US.
