An At Home Aromatic Facial

By Melisse Gelula / September 7, 2011

Springtime represents wood energy, the color green, and is about vibrant energy, it’s also time for an at home facial. Essential oils for springtime help us to be creative with our ideas and to complete what we start. In the spring, energy is flowing through the liver and the gallbladder, and these channels represent life force, cleansing, and emotional flow. Liver also regulates hormones that can, in turn, affect the skin. Essential oils for the skin and the liver in springtime include basil, bergamot, carrot, chamomile roman, geranium, grapefruit, ginger, lime, lemon, orange, peppermint, rosemary, and rosewood.

To improve the overall health of the skin, add essential oils to a body brush or mitt and brush the entire body upward, towards the heart.

A Body Brushing Recipe

• 1 drop of ginger

• 4 drops of petigrain

• 5 drops of rosewood

After skin brushing, add a small amount of lavender floral water to a dry green clay mask of your choosing for one application (recipe follows).

A Facial Mask Recipe

• lavender floral water to mix

• 1 drop lime

• 1 drop lemon
