Peel and Treat

by Organic Spa Magazine

Erika Katz, whose bondingoverbeauty.com blog is popular with mothers of tween daughters, shares the homemade scrub and toner recipes that she often makes with her own daughter.

Kiwi Cleansing Scrub
Use this scrub twice a week to exfoliate dead skin and moisturize.

1 kiwi, pureed
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 tablespoon vitamin E oil
4 tablespoons sugar

Mix all ingredients. Scrub face and body. Rinse with warm water.

Green Tea Toner
Green tea soothes, vitamin C-rich grapefruit juice boosts collagen and witch hazel acts as a gentle astringent to remove the dirt and oil in this post-workout toner.

2 green tea bags
1 cup boiling water
1/4 cup witch hazel
Juice of 1/2 red grapefruit

Steep tea bags in water and let cool. Remove teabags. Add witch hazel and grapefruit juice to tea water and blend.

Clementine Exfoliating Hand Scrub
Soothes dry, brittle winter hands.

1 tablespoon clementine juice
1 tablespoon honey
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon olive oil

Mix together all ingredients. Gently wash hands.

Best beauty secret? Vitamin E oil. Put it on hands for moisture, around eyes to prevent wrinkles, and on cuts for healing. You can even eat a tablespoon for smooth supple skin.
