Former triathlete Nicole DeBoom founded Skirt Sports in 2005 when she couldn’t find fitness wear that satisfied her feminine needs. “What I was looking for was not just men’s products turned pink–clearly designed by men because they cut in the wrong places,” she says. “The feminine side of myself was worth fighting for. Chances are if I look better, I’ll feel better and perform better.”
The lively prints and colors in Skirt Sports’ spring collection have become top sales performers. “My background is as a hardcore athlete, not a fashionista,” she says. “But what I always lived by is this mantra of the look-good-feel-good performance approach.
