Tea Time

by Jennie Nunn

Situated on the 17th floor at the JW Marriott Parq Vancouver, at Spa by JW might feel as if you’ve landed in the clouds. Or, at the very least, floating just above the cloud layer. The newly opened spa spans a eucalyptus steam room, a fitness center, an open-air Aqua Lounge appointed with a hydrotherapy tub and a designated yoga space. The spa’s updated safety protocols include social distancing, additional sanitizing practices and cashless transactions.

For an afternoon escape, check in for The Douglas Wrap, a detoxifying treatment with a bamboo-infused exfoliation followed by a warm wrap. While cocooned, enjoy a Shiatsu foot massage followed by a series of Thai stretches. Then indulge in the ultimate après experience in the comfort of a soft, oversized robe and slippers during the spa’s own take on high tea.

The almost-too-pretty-to-eat artful tea features hand-harvested TWG Tea from Singapore and menu selections by JW Marriott Parq Vancouver’s Executive Chef Nicholas Issel (think mint cucumber sandwiches, cranberry orange scones, chocolate hazelnut tarts, French macarons and Pacific smoked salmon pinwheels). “In offering the high tea, we honor our commitment to elevating the entire wellness experience,” says Ronnie Amick, spa director, of the tea service for two available for bespoke treatments. “With the spa’s 17th floor location, guests are met with breathtaking vistas of Vancouver’s skyline and mountain backdrop.” parqvancouver.com/spa
