Feeling Blue

Evocative of the sky and sea, blue is simply the color of summer

Feeling Blue

1. FLASH & SPARKLE

Robyn, a turquoise cream, and Charla, a deep blue sparkling metallic, are two new summer shades from Zoya’s Flash and Sparkle collections. Free of harmful industrial chemicals. www.zoya.com.

2. OCEAN MINDED FLIP-FLOP

Put a pair of these in your beach bag. I like the lightweight Meilani style in Blue Lagoon. The nylon toe post is made from recycled plastic bottles, while the footbed and outsole is crafted from recycled Croslite material, making it soft, comfy, and odor-resistant. $20, www.oceanminded.com

3. OSCAR MIMOSA

I love this new line of active wear for it’s cutting-edge designs and its dare-to-be- different vibe. The eco-friendly fabric was developed in Italy specifically for swimwear and active wear. The pieces shown here are from the Hot Neon Lights collection: Ocean Hot Short, $54; Vashdi Singlet, $58; and Trixie leggings, $87. www.oscarmimosa.com

4. VINTAGE KIMONO BAGS

New York City artist Hyemi Cho creates all kinds of organic designs from dresses to buttons to bags in her Chelsea apartment. We like these two blue bags, Butterfly, and African. Like the others in her collection, they’re one-of-a-kind and fashioned from vintage kimonos from her native Japan. Each bag takes from one to two weeks to make. you can find them at Lazypoint, a boutique in Amagansett, or online at www.etsy.com/shop/ZOUZO. From $50 to $300.

5. BRIGHT EYES

Two new mineral shades from Lily Lolo that caught my eye: Blue Lagoon Eyes, a sparkly medium blue, and Sandy Shore Eyes, a pretty pale blue, ($12 each). Add the Blue Eye Liner pencil ($16) for extra appeal—the smoky blue-grey is a fresh alternative to black liner. www.lilylolo.us

6. BEAUTY OIL

Vitaminic Concentrate from Pevonia Botanica is an aromatic, non-greasy solution for dry and dehydrated skin. Mandarin orange essential oil is combined with vitamins A and E for antioxidant power. Three to five drops in the evening are all you need. $38.50, www.pevonia.com

7. A BEDTIME BATH

I’ve added a capful of Kneipp to my warm bath for as long as I can remember. There’s a bath oil for whatever ails you, and if you’re like I am, and have a hard time falling asleep every once in a while, you’ll appreciate the Valerian & Hops Sleep Well Herbal Bath. The high concentrates of these two essential oils, combined with lavender, help to relax the body and calm the mind. $19, www.kneippus.com
